With the arrival of the month of Joishtho (Bengali month), trees across the region are beginning to bear ripe, aromatic jackfruit. The sweet scent of the fruit is now noticeable in many areas, marking the start of the seasonal harvest. Along Marine Drive Road, Mohammad Amir Hossain was seen carrying ripe jackfruit on his shoulder, moving from place to place to sell produce from his own orchard. He said he is directly marketing the harvested fruit to buyers during the peak season.
