Cox’s Bazar, which boasts the world’s longest natural sea beach, stands fully prepared to welcome a significant influx of tourists during the extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays.
District authorities, the tourist police, and tourism-related businesses have completed extensive preparations to ensure security, accommodation, and tourism services for visitors expected to arrive during the six-day holiday period.
Officials and business leaders expect the beach city to welcome hundreds of thousands of tourists during Eid.
Hotel, motel, and guesthouse bookings have already increased significantly ahead of the holiday rush.
Abul Kashem Sikder, president of the Hotel-Motel Guesthouse Owners’ Association, said no discount had been offered on room rents during Eid. Still, all preparations for tourist services had been completed.
“About 68 per cent of hotel rooms have already been booked. We expect the booking rate to increase further within the next couple of days,” he said.
Currently, over 500 hotels, motels, and guesthouses of various sizes in Cox’s Bazar are ready to welcome tourists.
To ensure visitor safety, members of the Tourist Police Bangladesh have intensified security measures across tourist zones.
Nihad Adnan Taiyan, the superintendent of police for the Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police Region, stated that tourist police members were working continuously.
Surveillance has been strengthened not only at the Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points in Cox’s Bazar town, but also at Inani Beach, Himchari National Park, and the Patowartek area.
He added that, alongside regular patrol teams, additional mobile teams and plainclothes personnel had also been deployed to ensure tourist safety in coordination with the district administration and district police.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad A Mannan said strict monitoring would remain in place to prevent tourists from facing harassment during the Eid holidays.
He warned that mobile courts would be held against dishonest businesses that overcharge hotel rents or unfairly raise food prices.
With security and tourism services strengthened, Cox’s Bazar is now fully prepared to offer tourists a safe and comfortable holiday experience during Eid-ul-Azha.
