A three-day second solo art exhibition by artist Yeaseer Arafath has begun in Cox’s Bazar.

Titled ‘Flowers of the Bakkhali and Others’, the exhibition opened on Saturday and will continue until June 1. It is open to visitors daily from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Organised at the Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar premises, the exhibition features seven of the artist’s recent works. A significant portion of the collection is dedicated to wildflowers and grasses found along the banks of the Bakkhali River, which have served as a major source of inspiration for the artist.

Among the highlights of the exhibition is ‘Dyara-Foijja-2’, a large-scale painting that has attracted considerable attention from visitors.

Speaking about the exhibition, Yeaseer Arafath said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, he regularly walked along the Bakkhali River in the mornings and evenings. The abundance of wildflowers blooming along the riverbanks left a lasting impression on him.

He said that the colours, forms, and beauty of various flowers, including Kanai Banshi, Tridhara, and many unnamed species, inspired him to translate those experiences onto canvas.

“Many of these flowers are unknown even to me by name, but their beauty fascinated me. This series of paintings emerged from that fascination,” he said.

The artist said that ‘Dyara-Foijja-2’ was created with acrylic on a 4ft by 6ft canvas and is one of his largest recent works.

He added that the exhibition had already attracted significant interest from visitors and art enthusiasts.

Arafath also revealed plans to organise a larger exhibition in the future under the title ‘Cox’s Bazar Diary’.

His first solo exhibition, ‘Cox’s Bazar Diary’, opened on April 23. Although initially scheduled as a one-day event, it was extended until April 25 in response to an enthusiastic visitor turnout.

His latest exhibition has once again generated strong interest among art lovers in the coastal town.
