Senior government officials have inspected several potential sites for key public facilities in the newly formed Matamuhuri upazila as part of efforts to ensure efficient administrative operations and improved public service delivery.

The visit took place on Monday morning, when officials toured several proposed locations across the upazila. The inspection focused on identifying and finalising suitable sites for the construction of important government establishments, including an upazila health complex, land office, police station, and fire service station.

The inspection was led by Matamuhuri Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Shahin Delwar. Among those present were Chakaria Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rupayan Dev, Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monir Hossain, Cox’s Bazar district BNP organising secretary Jamil Ibrahim Chowdhury, Matamuhuri Upazila BNP finance secretary Nazrul Islam, organising secretary Shoaibul Islam Sabuj and other local political and community representatives.

According to officials, the government has undertaken initiatives to establish the administrative infrastructure for the new upazila, bringing public services closer to residents and ensuring planned, sustainable development. During the visit, the officials assessed the geographical suitability, transport connectivity, and public accessibility of the proposed locations.

The inspection forms part of preparations for the operationalisation of the newly approved upazila, which was created under the government’s administrative reorganisation programme.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that establishing Matamuhuri as a separate upazila would strengthen local administration and make government services more accessible to residents throughout the area.
