Bangladesh has reached another significant milestone in the field of underwater robotics as BengalSub officially qualified for the Semi-Finals of RoboSub 2026 with its autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), Hangor 2.0.

After making history in 2025 as the first multidisciplinary student team from Bangladesh to participate in RoboSub, BengalSub has returned stronger in 2026, becoming the first multidisciplinary student team from the country to reach the competition’s Semi-Finals.

The team is composed of students from high school, college, and university, bringing together young innovators from different educational backgrounds and disciplines. Their achievement reflects the growing strength of Bangladesh’s youth in advanced robotics, engineering, and autonomous systems.

BengalSub’s success is complemented by another remarkable achievement for Bangladesh. BRACU Duburi, representing BRAC University and recognized as the country’s first university team to participate in RoboSub annually, has also continued its impressive performance. This year, the team became one of only two teams worldwide to qualify two separate robots for the RoboSub 2026 Semi-Finals.

The achievements of both teams highlight Bangladesh’s rapid progress in underwater robotics and demonstrate the country’s expanding presence on the global stage of autonomous marine technology.

From the first Bangladeshi university team to the first multidisciplinary student team, Bangladesh’s journey at RoboSub is no longer just about participation—it’s about competing among the world’s best and inspiring the next generation of innovators.

With BengalSub now advancing to the Semi-Finals, the mission continues, carrying Bangladesh’s flag forward in one of the world’s most prestigious underwater robotics competitions.
