The Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) has distributed relief supplies among 200 flood-affected families in a border village of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, as part of its humanitarian response to the recent flooding.
The relief distribution programme was held in Konapara village, under the Hoikyang Border Outpost (BOP), at around 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Ramu Sector Commander Colonel Mohammad Mohiuddin Ahmed attended the event, organised by the Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB), as the chief guest.
Among those present were Commanding Officer of the Ukhiya Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Zahirul Islam; Deputy Commanding Officer, Major Ishtiaq Ahmed; Acting Quartermaster Assistant Director, Mohammad Masud Rana; local public representatives, community leaders, and residents.
Speaking at the programme, Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed said that alongside its responsibility for safeguarding the border, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) regularly carries out social and humanitarian initiatives.
“The BGB shares a strong relationship with people living in border areas, who continue to place their trust in the force and cooperate with us in many ways. We will continue such humanitarian assistance programmes for the welfare of border communities in the future,” he said.
According to BGB officials, the Ukhiya Battalion, under the Ramu Sector of the Cox’s Bazar Region, routinely conducts humanitarian activities alongside its border security duties on the Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier. As part of those efforts, the team distributed relief supplies to 200 families affected by the recent floods.
