The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has withdrawn local cautionary signal No. 3 at the seaports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla and Payra after the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal weakened and weather conditions improved.
The latest weather bulletin, issued on Thursday morning, announced the withdrawal of the cautionary signal.
Confirming the development, Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office said the local warning signal had been lowered as the deep depression had weakened.
He, however, advised fishing boats and trawlers operating at sea to continue navigating with caution and follow subsequent weather advisories.
According to the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, the district recorded 69 millimetres of rainfall in the 24 hours until 6:00 am on Thursday.
After several days of persistent rainfall, sunshine returned to the skies over Cox’s Bazar on Thursday morning, signalling a gradual improvement in weather conditions.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said adverse weather over the coastal region was gradually easing as the influence of the weather system had diminished.
