Kobita Chattar on Cox’s Bazar beach has taken on a fresh look during the monsoon, with lush green sagarlata (beach vines) carpeting the dunes and creating a striking natural landscape that is drawing growing numbers of nature lovers.
Days of continuous rainfall have transformed the dunes into a blanket of greenery, while the roaring waves of the Bay of Bengal and overcast skies have added to the area’s scenic appeal.
Resident Shahriar said Kobita Chattar offers a distinctly different experience during the rainy season.
‘The beach vines become fresher and greener after the rain, covering the dunes like a natural green carpet. The view attracts visitors looking to experience the beauty of the monsoon,’ he said.
Tourists said the monsoon reveals a unique side of Cox’s Bazar, with the vine-covered dunes giving the impression that nature has painted the landscape in shades of green.
Environmentalists said the sagarlata are valued not only for their beauty but also for their ecological importance. The plants help stabilise coastal dunes, reduce erosion and protect the fragile shoreline ecosystem.
They urged tourists to avoid trampling the dunes or damaging the vegetation, stressing the need to conserve the natural habitat for future generations.
With its lush greenery, the sound of crashing waves and the tranquil atmosphere of the rainy season, Kobita Chattar has emerged as one of the most attractive destinations in Cox’s Bazar for nature enthusiasts.
