A remote madrasa in Eidgaon upazila of Cox’s Bazar has achieved a remarkable result in the 2026 Dakhil examination under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, with all 29 of its candidates passing and one securing GPA-5.
Islampur Islamia Dakhil Madrasa is the only madrasa in Cox’s Bazar district where all students who appeared in the examination passed this year.
The achievement has drawn considerable attention locally, particularly as the madrasa is located in a remote area of the district. Teachers, students and guardians have been celebrating since the publication of the results.
According to the Dakhil examination results published by the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, 29 students from Islampur Islamia Dakhil Madrasa appeared in the examination and all of them passed, recording a 100 per cent pass rate. Umm Salma Ishika secured GPA-5.
The madrasa’s superintendent, Abu Mozzafar Najib Ahmed, attributed the result to special initiatives by teachers and regular classes.
“Two years ago, our madrasa’s results were somewhat poor. Afterwards, we identified students as either weak or strong. After regular classes, additional lessons were arranged separately for weaker students,” he said.
“We believe the sincere efforts of teachers, hard work by students and cooperation from guardians have contributed to this result,” he said.
He said the madrasa would continue teaching students with dedication to maintain the achievement.
“We will also make guardians more aware of their children’s studies through parents’ meetings,” he added.
Umm Salma Ishika, the student who secured GPA-5, said the sincere efforts of her teachers and her own hard work had made the result possible.
She said she wanted to continue her studies and achieve even better results in the future.
Dakhil pass rate 74pc in Cox’s Bazar
Meanwhile, an analysis of the 2026 SSC and equivalent examination results shows that Dakhil and vocational candidates in Cox’s Bazar recorded significantly higher pass rates than SSC candidates.
According to the results statement sent by the district education office, the pass rate for Dakhil candidates in Cox’s Bazar was 74 per cent this year. The pass rate for vocational candidates was 65.69 per cent, while the SSC pass rate was 57.09 per cent.
The analysis of results from the three education boards also shows that a total of 1,104 students in Cox’s Bazar secured GPA-5 in the SSC, Dakhil and vocational examinations this year.
Of them, 899 secured GPA-5 in SSC, 162 in Dakhil and 43 in vocational examinations.
Cox’s Bazar district education officer Golam Mostafa said, “Among the three examinations — SSC, Dakhil and vocational — Dakhil candidates under the Madrasah Education Board achieved the best results in Cox’s Bazar this year. Vocational students under the Technical Education Board followed them. SSC candidates under the Chattogram Education Board performed the least well.”
The 100 per cent pass rate and GPA-5 achievement at the remote Islampur Islamia Dakhil Madrasa have therefore drawn fresh attention to the overall Dakhil results in Cox’s Bazar.
The madrasa has demonstrated that educational institutions in remote areas can also achieve strong results through coordinated efforts by teachers and students and support from guardians, even with limited resources and facilities.
