A colourful Jashne Julus was held in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The procession was jointly organised by the Cox’s Bazar district unit of the Gausia Committee, Madrasa-e-Tayyebia Taheria and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at.
Devotees began gathering at the premises of Madrasa-e-Tayyebia in the morning. People from different parts of the district started arriving around 9:00 am, while the procession formally began at 10:00 am.
Thousands of people joined the procession in rows, carrying colourful flags and banners bearing messages commemorating Eid-e-Miladunnabi. Many participants recited naat while marching, while others joined the procession on decorated motorcycles and vehicles.
Organisers said that expressing joy over the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), reciting durood and salam, performing naat, and showing love and respect for the Prophet are expressions of their religious devotion.
Salahuddin Mohammad Tarek, media coordinator of the Jashne Julus, said the day’s programmes began after Fajr prayers with Khatme Quran and Khatme Gausia. People began gathering at the Tayyebia Madrasa premises from 9:00 am before the procession started at 10:00 am.
The procession began at the madrasa premises and proceeded towards Nuniarchhara. It then moved along Airport Road and the main road to the Khurushkul Road intersection, before passing through Tekpara Old BFDC, Tekpara Choumuhani, and the area in front of Burmese School.
The procession later returned along the main road through Ghongachhara and ended at the madrasa premises.
Following the procession, Milad, Qiyam and a concluding munajat were held at the madrasa. Participants recited durood and salam and observed Qiyam as part of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi program.
A large gathering of devotees was seen on several roads in Cox’s Bazar town during the procession. The area echoed with recitations of naat, durood and salam.
Police deployed additional security measures in and around the procession route to ensure safety and maintain public order.
