The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has asked Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports to lower their warning signals as there is no longer any possibility of gusty winds over the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office assistant meteorologist Abdul Hannan confirmed the development at around 10:20am on Saturday.
According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas on September 10.
Under its influence, there was a possibility of gusty winds sweeping across the seaports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh. As a result, local warning signal No. 3 had been hoisted at Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports.
The weather situation has since improved, prompting authorities to withdraw the warning signals.
The Meteorological Department said there is currently no possibility of gusty winds over the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas.
