ASM Suza Uddin, a researcher and political analyst, has been appointed divisional organising secretary for Chattogram in the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) newly announced central committee.
The appointment aims to strengthen the party’s grassroots organisation across Chattogram’s diverse geographical areas, including the coastal belt and the three hill districts, according to the report.
Suza Uddin previously served as the party’s divisional organising secretary. During his tenure, he oversaw the formation of convening and executive committees in 10 organisational districts across greater Noakhali and Chattogram, from Lakshmipur to Teknaf, the report said.
He also organised political programmes in the three hill districts and coastal Cox’s Bazar. His political activities in the region focused on what has been described as “Bay of Bengal politics”, linking coastal and hill areas in a broader geopolitical perspective.
His candidacy for a parliamentary seat in Bandarban also helped him build a regional network, according to the report.
Reacting to his appointment, Suza Uddin said Chattogram and the hill districts were strategically sensitive and important areas, with distinct political dynamics and diverse ethnic communities whose rights and internal consultation processes required particular attention.
“No decision should be imposed by force in the hills or the plains,” he said, stressing the need for people-centred politics and inclusive public policy so that people from every ethnic community could feel part of the political process.
Political analysts cited in the report said the appointment could expand the NCP’s organisational activities across Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari and the coastal areas, while strengthening efforts to address the rights of marginalised communities.
