The Bangladesh Film Censor Board has been dissolved and replaced with the newly constituted Film Certification Board, effective today (September 22), according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

A 15-member certification board has been established under subsection (1) of Section 3 of the ‘Bangladesh Film Certification Act, 2023’.

The Film Certification Board will be chaired by a senior secretary or secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while the present vice chairman of the Bangladesh Film Censor Board has been appointed a member secretary of the new board.

Notable members include the Law and Justice Division Secretary, the Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Additional Secretary (Film).

The board will also include a senior representative (joint secretary or above) from the Public Security Division, the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) managing director, and the Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president.
