Manon Reza Neer achieved his third and final IM norm in Budapest, becoming the country’s youngest International Master.
According to a report by the Dhaka Tribune, Neer also emerged as the undefeated champion in the Grand Masters Chess A Event in the SixDay Budapest Two Years 2024, while IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman became the undefeated champion in the Grand Masters Chess C event.
They both won the title with six and a half points from nine games, but both narrowly missed the Grand Master’s norm by only half a point.
In the ninth round, Fahad drew with FIDE Master Chen Yinning of China, and Neer drew with FM Pasztor Balazs of Hungary.
Neer defeated IM Sambit Panda of India in the eighth round to earn the final IM norm.
