Goja is a type of dry sweet, also known by other names such as Murali, Khurma, and Anguli. Street vendors in Cox’s Bazar commonly sell Goja, which comes in various shapes.

Harun, a local Goja vendor, told Cox’s Bazar Life that this sweet has endured through generations and remains a popular choice among many.

The name “Goja” comes from its long shape, which sets it apart from regular sweets. The process involves rolling the dough, folding it, and then frying it in oil. After frying, we dip the pieces in hot sugar syrup to give them their signature sweetness.

Due to its affordability and delicious taste, Goja is especially popular in rural areas. Harun claimed that the sweet is also famous in parts of Bangladesh and Kolkata, India.
