Top chefs from the city’s upscale hotels, motels, and restaurants participated in the first-ever International Chefs Day celebrations in Cox’s Bazar.
The event, organized by the Cox’s Bazar Hotel Employees Union, was held on Sunday evening at the Hotel Beachway’s conference hall in Kolatoli.
Nazim Uddin, the convener of the union, presided over the event, while Rokon Uddin, the member secretary, conducted the proceedings. Among the speakers were Karim Ullah Kalim, the district convener of the Workers-Employees Unity Council and an advisor to the union, as well as other advisors like Sokendu Barua and Mizanur Rahman. Several chefs also shared their experiences during the event.
The celebration culminated with the ceremonial cutting of a cake.
Renowned chef Dr. Bill Gallagher first established International Chefs Day in 2004 to raise awareness about safe food practices. Since then, chefs around the world celebrate this day on October 20 each year.
