Cox’s Bazar International University (CBIU) has formed its first-ever journalist organization, the CBIU Journalist Society (CJS), to unite journalism-enthusiastic students and promote the profession within the university.

The inaugural meeting took place on Wednesday (December 4) at the university’s conference hall, where students associated with journalism cast their votes to elect the society’s executive members.

Tahzibul Anam of the Financial Express won the presidency, and Asifuzzaman Sajin of TTN secured the position of general secretary.

The event was attended by Acting Registrar of the CBIU Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, Assistant Director (PR and Media), and CJS Coordinator Imam Khair, among others.

“This initiative will pave the way for our students to excel in journalism on the global stage. The university will ensure all necessary assistance for this endeavour,” he added.

Other members of the CJS executive committee are Rokhsana Sumi (vice president), Mohammad Morshed (joint secretary), Tawhidul Islam (organizing secretary), Mohammad Helal (treasurer), and Enamul Haque (publicity secretary).
