As the golden sun pierced through winter’s morning mist, the ICC Champions Trophy, wrapped in its dazzling golden sheen, arrived at Cox’s Bazar beach, creating an unforgettable spectacle. The world’s longest uninterrupted sea beach witnessed a historic moment as cricket fans thronged to see the prestigious trophy up close.
The public display took place at Laboni Point on Wednesday (December 11) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors of all ages eagerly gathered, capturing the special moment in pictures. However, some attendees expressed disappointment over the lack of promotional efforts, claiming they needed to gain prior knowledge of the event.
Before the public unveiling, the iconic trophy was photographed alongside a traditional Cox’s Bazar Sampan boat at 10 a.m., blending the region’s heritage with cricket’s global spirit.
Enhanced Security Measures
The event saw heightened security, with RAB-15’s 30-member team, led by Company Commander Major Saiful Islam, ensuring safety alongside police and intelligence officials. “There is no security threat. Everyone is enjoying the ICC Champions Trophy display safely,” Major Islam assured.
Voices from the Crowd
Azizul Haque, a local cricket enthusiast, shared, “I never imagined seeing the ICC Champions Trophy so close here in Cox’s Bazar. This inspires us greatly. I hope Bangladesh wins the trophy this time, bringing it home from Pakistan’s soil.”
Resident Moinul Hossain added, “An event of this magnitude deserved more publicity. Even neighborhood games have better arrangements. I only discovered the display while visiting the beach. A bit more planning would have made this even better.”
Global Trophy Tour Context
The trophy arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday evening (December 10) and was securely kept at the Shimanto Conference Center ‘Urmee.’ Rabin Imam, the BCB Senior Manager of Media & Communications, explains that the trophy is on a global tour in anticipation of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which will take place in Pakistan from February to March 2025. Its Bangladesh visit, from December 9 to 13, is part of this promotional journey.
