Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said the interim government is working to ensure a sustainable, cost-effective, high-quality energy policy.
She spoke at the Bangladesh Energy Prosperity 2050 Conference at the BIAM Foundation Complex. She said the interim government will adopt all necessary policies and legal frameworks to achieve this goal.
Rezwana said the government would consider public opinions in the revised power sector action plan and is now striving to address the sector’s challenges.
The adviser said that despite the inconsistent existing agreements in the power sector, it’s challenging to cancel them as the process is very costly and time-consuming. Therefore, she added, the decision should be taken through careful planning.
Rezwana added that directives have been given to publish power projects’ Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) on websites.
