On December 16, marking Victory Day, Cox’s Bazar International University (CBIU) honored Liberation War veterans and families of martyrs from the 2024 anti-discrimination student movement in a special ceremony. 

A discussion session reflecting on the spirit of victory also took place.

Honorees included 1971 Liberation War hero Engineer Nesar Ahmad Bhuiyan and families of 2024 student movement martyrs—Ahsan Habib’s parents, Helal Uddin and Hasina Begum, from Chakaria; Wasim Akram’s younger brother, Arshed Ali, from Pekua; and Noor Mostafa’s father, Shafi Ullah, from Eidgaon.

The event included recognizing the winners of the essay competition “Bangladesh of Tomorrow Through Your Eyes.” 

The top three students were Israt Rahman (1st) from the Law Department, Dalim Barua (2nd), and Diba Deb Sritika (3rd).

CBIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Touhid Hossain Chowdhury presided over the event. Engineer Nesar Ahmad Bhuiyan shared heartfelt memories from the Liberation War, inspiring the audience with stories of sacrifice and patriotism.

CBIU’s Assistant Director (PR & Media), Imam Khair, moderated the program. Law Department Chairperson Khan Habiba Mostarin and English Department Chairperson Tamanna Nawrin Azam also addressed the gathering.
