Winter has gently touched the surroundings, bringing a chill that intensifies after sunset and in the early hours of dawn.
Although winter officially spans the Bengali months of Poush and Magh, nature often unveils its winter charm earlier. The landscape, wrapped in a blanket of mist, becomes enchanting—and with it comes the sweet allure of fresh date palm sap.
Braving the cold and dense fog, many venture out at dawn to savor the fresh sap. Rows of date palm trees lining the countryside create a mesmerizing scene.
As the sap collectors, known as “gachhis,” prepare to harvest the sap from the clay pots hanging from the trees, eager enthusiasts gather, waiting to taste this winter delicacy. The atmosphere becomes a hub for nature lovers, photographers, and sap enthusiasts alike.
In Cox’s Bazar, near the newly constructed Khurushkul Bridge, a well-known date palm grove draws visitors from across the district.
People come early in the morning to purchase fresh sap, enjoy the cool winter breeze, and capture memorable moments with the iconic clay sap pots.
The experience of visiting a date palm grove at dawn, embracing winter’s chill, and tasting freshly harvested sap is truly unforgettable.
