With the theme “Run for Heroes of Our Victory,” a half marathon will be held along Cox’s Bazar’s stunning Marine Drive on December 28 in honour of Victory Day. The event, jointly organized by the Cox’s Bazar District Administration and the Bangladesh Army, aims to commemorate the nation’s war heroes while showcasing the breathtaking natural beauty of Cox’s Bazar.
Announcing the event at a press conference at the Shaheed ATM Zafar Alam Conference Hall on December 18, District Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said, “The marathon will honor our national heroes while promoting health awareness and the unique beauty of Cox’s Bazar. We warmly welcome local and international runners to participate and celebrate the spirit of our nation.”
The race will cover 21 kilometers from Exotica Sampan Point near Marine Drive Road to the helipad in front of Hotel Baywatch at Inani Beach. The marathon will start at 7 AM and conclude by 11 AM, with a maximum completion time of 4 hours. Runners must register by December 24 through an online link for public sharing, and participation is free.
Registered runners will receive custom race T-shirts, finisher medals, and e-certificates. Water stations, hydration corners, medical booths, and ambulance services will be available along the route.
The half marathon will offer attractive cash prizes and honorary medals in various categories for regular participants (age 18-45 years); the champion will get Tk50,000, 1st runner-up Tk30,000, 2nd runner-up Tk20,000, and honorary medals for the top 4th-10th finishers. There will be special recognition awards for Master Category (Age 45-59 years).
