At the entrance to Labani Point of Cox’s Bazar beach, anyone will find Mohammad Yusuf, a cheerful 49-year-old man, sitting with a weighing machine in front of him, under a small umbrella, along with a variety of toys to attract children.
Yusuf, who is from Ghonapara of Cox’s Bazar, supports his family of six, which includes his wife, two daughters, and two sons, through this unique occupation.
For just Tk5, tourists or beachgoers can have their weight measured, while the toys range from Tk50-Tk100.
“I earn about Tk300-Tk400 a day from this. It’s enough to run my family,” he said.
Despite the modest income, Yusuf’s warm smile and determination reflect his serenity with his work and life.
