Cox’s Bazar is experiencing a massive influx of tourists as people celebrate Pohela Falgun and Valentine’s Day. From early morning, crowds have been building up along the world’s longest sea beach, with all significant points witnessing a surge in visitors. Tourists and locals alike are spending their time joyfully along the shoreline.
The Labhoni, Sugandha, and Kalatoli beach points have seen the highest concentration of visitors, with many indulging in sea bathing and beachside activities. Lifeguard teams are on high alert to prevent untoward incidents in response to the unprecedented rush.
Beyond the beach, other tourist attractions in the district are also seeing large gatherings. The ongoing tourist ban on Saint Martin’s Island has contributed to the increased footfall at Cox’s Bazar beaches this February.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are working across the area to ensure tourist safety. Executive magistrates from the district administration, along with Tourist Police, District Police, and RAB personnel, have been deployed. Officials have assured us that strict action will be taken against any incidents of harassment.
Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Salahuddin stated:
“We are swiftly addressing any complaints of tourist harassment, and the overall law and order situation remains under control.”
According to hotel owners, over 50,000 tourists have arrived in Cox’s Bazar for the two-day holiday. The district’s 450+ hotels and motels have reported a 60-70% occupancy rate, with high demand expected to continue through Saturday.
