Today marks Pohela Falgun, the first day of Spring in the Bengali calendar. Known as the king of seasons, Spring brings a fresh vibrance to nature, filling the air with warm breezes, the songs of cuckoos, and the buzz of bees. The landscape bursts into colour with flaming red Palash, crimson Shimul, golden Radhachura, and fragrant Naglingam.
Draped in yellow and red, Bengalis celebrate the season of joy and renewal. The melodies of springtime songs, like Rabindranath Tagore’s classic “Aha Aji E Bosonte”, echo in the air.
Even before Falgun’s arrival, Cox’s Bazar, a land of sea and hills, had already begun its transformation. The Marine Drive road, untouched by harsh winter this year, has been glowing in a different charm. Many visitors are flocking to Hotel Shaibal, known for its beautiful gardens that are now blooming with various flowers.
Adding to the festivities, today is also Valentine’s Day, making the occasion even more special. With a sense of togetherness and harmony, people celebrate love, nature, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
