On February 20, Cox’s Bazar will host the country’s longest ultra-marathon, Coastal Ultra 2025, on the stunning Marine Drive. This 200-kilometer ultra-marathon will continue until February 22, marking a historic milestone in Bangladesh’s marathon history.
The event is organized by the Coastal Ultra Bangladesh, a non-profit volunteer organization with the theme “Save the Ocean, Save the Earth.” An ultramarathon is an event featuring distances longer than the conventional marathon, which covers 42.195 kilometers. Ultramarathons typically start at 50 kilometers, and the Coastal Ultra will include 50 km, 100 km, 100 miles, and 200 km.
This event will feature nearly 400 runners, both local and international, with the support of 250 volunteers. In a unique gesture, there will be no registration fees, and participants will receive all services free.
For the first time in the country’s marathon history, the 200 km ultra-marathon will take place, showcasing the country’s evolving interest in long-distance running.
The Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Athletics Federation, and the Cox’s Bazar District Administration are jointly supporting the event.
This remarkable event is set to draw attention not only to its challenge but also to its commitment to raising awareness about environmental conservation.
