100 per cent pass rates in SSC and HSC, national recognition and international achievements in robotics

Ramu Cantonment English School and College (RCESC) has established itself in the district’s education sector through consistent examination results, national recognition and participation in international robotics competitions.

The year 2026 has been particularly successful. The institution achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in both the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, while its principal received a national award. It also earned recognition in several categories at National Education Week and achieved success in science and technology competitions.

100 per cent success in public examinations

All 26 students who appeared in the SSC examination passed, with nine securing GPA-5. The institution also recorded a 100 per cent pass rate in the HSC examination. Authorities attributed the results to regular classes, monitoring of students’ progress, continuous assessment, additional support for those who need it, close supervision by teachers, and cooperation among students and guardians.

National recognition

The institution’s principal, Lieutenant Colonel Md Abdur Rahim, MPhil, PhD, AEC, won the Distinguished Teacher Award 2026 in the college category. He received it at a national-level event marking World Teachers’ Day, in recognition of his contribution to education and professional competence.

At National Education Week 2026, RCESC was recognised as the best college at the upazila level. Its principal was selected as the best head of institution, while the institution also received recognition in the best teacher and best student categories.

Innovation in science and technology

The institution regularly organises science and technology activities to encourage creativity, analytical ability and problem-solving skills. At the 2026 Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing Programme, it secured first place at both upazila and district levels. Students also succeeded in science project exhibitions, science olympiads, and quiz competitions.

Robotics on the international stage

The RCESC robotics team took part in the final round of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in Singapore in 2025. The institution is now preparing to participate in the WRO final scheduled to be held in the United States in 2026.

On August 14, 2026, seven teams from the institution took part in a WRO competition at Independent University in Chattogram. Two teams received honourable mentions in the Future Innovators category, while three teams in the RoboMission category were selected for the national camp. The activities help students develop skills in programming, engineering, robot building, and teamwork.

Scholarships

Arjun Das secured a talent pool scholarship, while Soumyadeep Barua and Emad Al Noor received general scholarships.

Literature, culture and reading

The institution organised Ramu Book Fair 2026 from April 6 to 11, with publishers and educational institutions taking part. Students also won prizes in poetry recitation, drawing, literary and cultural competitions held for Nazrul Year 2026. Debates, sports, cultural events and club activities are also part of its programmes, aimed at developing leadership, communication skills, confidence and discipline.

Principal Rahim said, “Our goal is not limited to achieving good examination results. We want to develop students with knowledge, skills, morality, creativity and patriotism.” He said technology-based learning, innovative thinking and practical knowledge were essential to preparing students for the future, and that the achievements were made possible through the combined efforts of teachers, students, guardians and the governing body.

Vice-principal Sharul Mostafa said an institution’s success should not be measured only by examination results. “How confident, creative, humane and skilled students become is equally important. We want to create opportunities for every student to develop their hidden talents,” he said. He said the institution plans to expand its participation in international competitions.
