Sugandha Point, one of the most popular tourist spots on Cox’s Bazar beach, attracts the highest number of visitors daily. However, among all the beach points, Sugandha Point now suffers the most from waste accumulation, significantly affecting its natural beauty.
A recent on-site visit revealed that plastic waste, polythene bags, discarded bottles, and tea cups are scattered across the area, especially on both sides of the central Sugandha Point. The problem is particularly severe near temporary vendors operating on the dunes.
Many visitors and locals have raised concerns that vendors’ unauthorized dumping is a major contributor to the problem, causing environmental degradation and harming the beach’s appeal.
Due to the lack of proper waste management, tourists are becoming increasingly frustrated and, in some cases, reconsidering their trips to Cox’s Bazar. Both visitors and locals are now urging authorities to take immediate action to clean up the beach and maintain its pristine condition.
