The Palongki Parbon event, a collaborative initiative between Hotel Ramada and the ISEC-ILO Project, was successfully launched today at Hotel Ramada, Cox’s Bazar, bringing together local entrepreneurs, cultural performers, and tourists in a vibrant celebration of Cox’s Bazar’s rich heritage and entrepreneurial spirit. The fair features a wide array of women-led SMEs, local artisans, and Rakhine community artists, offering unique cuisines, handmade souvenirs, and traditional performances.
The event was inaugurated by Chevan Gunaratne, General Manager of Ramada by Wyndham, and Ruchika Bahl, Head of the ILO Sub-office in Cox’s Bazar, who both delivered opening speeches emphasizing the importance of promoting local businesses, gender inclusivity, and sustainable tourism.
“Palongki Parbon is not just a fair; it is an opportunity for local women entrepreneurs and artisans to showcase their products to a broader audience, including high-spending tourists. The ISEC-ILO Project is proud to support initiatives that create sustainable growth opportunities and empower local communities in Cox’s Bazar,” said Ruchika Bahl during her speech.
In his address, Chevan Gunaratne remarked, “Ramada by Wyndham is committed to supporting local businesses and promoting cultural exchange. It’s an honor to partner with the ISEC-ILO Project to provide a platform for the talented artisans and entrepreneurs of Cox’s Bazar, further enhancing the diverse tourism experiences this destination offers.”
By providing this platform, the event aims to boost market access for SMEs, contributing to the economic empowerment of women, aligning with the ISEC-ILO Project’s goal of fostering inclusive, sustainable growth in Cox’s Bazar’s tourism sector.
The Palongki Parbon fair is set to run through the days 20-21 February 2025 from 12 pm to 09 pm, offering visitors the chance to experience the best of Cox’s Bazar’s local cuisine, handmade goods, and cultural performances.
