Large-scale ice production is underway on Airport Road, where 8 to 10 ice factories are busy preparing several metric tons of ice. Water is being refilled continuously to meet the demand, as these ice blocks are essential for the deep-sea fishing industry. Massive fishing boats stock up on ice in advance, ensuring fishermen can preserve their catch while spending two to three months at sea. Beyond the local industry, ice is also crucial for transporting fish to remote areas across the country and even for export from Cox’s Bazar. With the rising demand for ice, factories remain busy around the clock.
