Local women at Patuartek beach in Cox’s Bazar collect broken seashells from the sandy shore to earn a living. They carefully sort through the fragments, select useful pieces, and clean and prepare them for sale. The processed shells can fetch Tk 150–200 per kilogram, providing income for women in nearby villages. Shamsur Nahar, a resident, says women in the community have done this work for generations, relying on the sea’s scattered shells to support their livelihoods.
