The government of Saudi Arabia has set 15 years as the minimum age for Hajj pilgrims this year.
According to a press release from the Religious Affairs Ministry, the decision was made considering the safety and security of child pilgrims.
All stakeholders have been asked to take necessary measures regarding the matter. The release added that the age will be calculated from the date of birth mentioned in the pilgrim’s passport.
The letter further mentioned that a registered 15-year-old child pilgrim or a guardian accompanying a child pilgrim can replace a pre-registered pilgrim if applicable.
