In Cox’s Bazar, UN Secretary-General António Guterres joined thousands of Rohingya refugees for iftar, wearing a traditional Panjabi.

On Friday, March 14, Guterres arrived at Cox’s Bazar Airport and traveled by road to Rohingya Camp No. 4. He visited learning centers and observed various activities. In the afternoon, Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus also arrived at the camp, and the two humanitarian leaders shared iftar with the Rohingya community.

The Secretary-General’s white Panjabi brought joy to the refugees. From 10 a.m. on, people gathered at Demo Hill in Camp-20 for the Iftar event. As sunset approached, a festive atmosphere filled the entire camp.

For the Rohingya people, Guterres wearing a Panjabi and joining the iftar symbolized solidarity and support.

This historic evening will remain a lasting memory for the refugees, as the Secretary-General’s presence brought hope and a sense of connection to the world beyond the camp.
