A breathtaking Green Pit Viper, one of the most charming and vividly colored snakes in the world, has been spotted on Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar. The venomous snake was recently seen hanging from a mango tree, captivating onlookers with its vibrant green hue.

Native to Southeast Asia, the Green Pit Viper gets its name from its brilliant green coloration and the heat-sensitive pit organs on its head, which help it detect prey.

This medium-sized snake can grow up to four feet in length and is characterized by its triangular head, thick body, and long tail. Its bright green color provides excellent camouflage among foliage, making it difficult for predators and prey to spot.

A solitary and arboreal species, the Green Pit Viper spends most of its time in trees, patiently waiting for prey. When an opportunity arises, it strikes precisely, delivering a potent venomous bite.
