The Hindu community’s traditional Baruni Snan and Ganga Puja were observed with religious fervor in Cox’s Bazar. The sacred ritual, held annually on Madhukrishna Trayodashi in the Bengali month of Chaitra, drew thousands of devotees to the shores of the Bay of Bengal.
From early Thursday morning, waves of devotees gathered at Kobita Chattar on Cox’s Bazar beach to participate in the ritualistic bath and prayers. According to Hindu beliefs, Baruni Snan washes away sins, which is why people of all ages join this spiritual gathering every year.
The observance included lighting auspicious lamps, recitations from the Bhagavad Gita, religious discussions, and other rituals.
Devotees said they took the holy bath to purify their souls and pray for their predecessors.
As the day progressed, more devotees arrived, reinforcing the deep-rooted faith that draws the Hindu community to this annual ritual in pursuit of divine blessings.
