Seasonal winter shopping is gaining momentum at the floating roadside clothing stalls across Cox’s Bazar. Jackets, sweaters, shawls, caps, gloves, and a variety of winter wear are being sold at relatively low prices — offering comfort to low-income residents as well as tourists visiting the coastal city.
Speaking with vendors, we discovered that they have stocked up on winter apparel ahead of the peak season, buying items in bulk from various districts. From morning until late night, these makeshift stalls remain busy with continuous customer flow.
Local residents say that similar items are available in shopping malls or branded stores but at significantly higher prices. These roadside shops allow people to buy necessary winter clothing within budget while also supporting the livelihoods of many small traders.
With the chill setting in, these informal clothing markets along Cox’s Bazar’s streets have quickly become a reliable and popular destination for winter shoppers.
