Railway authorities have decided to suspend all intercity and local trains from Chittagong due to worsening flood situation in Feni and Comilla.
The railway officials said that railway line from Feni to Fazilpur has been submerged in water, railway line has been uprooted in Comilla and flood water has accumulated at Feni station.
11 intercity trains run daily from Chittagong to Dhaka, Jamalpur, Sylhet and Chandpur along with regular local and commuter trains between Cox’s Bazar, Nazirhat, Chandpur, Dhaka, and Mymensingh.
General Manager of Eastern Railway, Mohammad Nazmul Islam, told the media that the suspension of train movement due to worsening flood situation in Feni, Sylhet and the damage at Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar railway line.
So, they have decided to suspend train movement for the safety of the passengers and a decision will be taken regarding train movement once the flood situation normalizes.
