The coastal town of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar turned blue and white on Friday as hundreds of football enthusiasts gathered for a colourful bike showdown and cultural programme organised by Argentina supporters.
The event began formally at 2:00pm on Friday from the grounds of Teknaf Pilot High School, where supporters took part in a motorcycle rally decorated with Argentina flags, jerseys and colourful banners, expressing their passion for the South American football giants.
The procession started from the Teknaf Land Port area and travelled along the scenic Marine Drive road before concluding at the designated venue. Throughout the route, the enthusiasm, chants and festive spirit of the participants created a vibrant atmosphere across the town.
Following the bike showdown, a cultural concert was held. Popular Cox’s Bazar-based singers Ifti and Songoti entertained the audience with musical performances, adding to the festive mood. Football fans and visitors alike enjoyed an afternoon filled with music and celebration.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Helal Uddin said the event aimed to promote harmony, friendship and positive recreation among young people through sports and cultural activities.
He expressed hope that such initiatives would strengthen social bonds and encourage greater engagement in healthy recreational pursuits.
The programme concluded with an official closing ceremony, after which participants returned peacefully to their respective destinations.
Locals said the unique football-themed event had added a new dimension to Teknaf’s sporting and cultural landscape, bringing together supporters in a celebration of both sport and community spirit.
