Bangladesh’s women’s football team received a grand reception from the Bangladesh Armed Forces and the Bangladesh Olympic Association in recognition of their historic SAFF Championship victory.
The Bangladesh Army organized the celebration, which took place on Saturday (December 7) at the Bay Watch Hotel grounds in Inani, along Cox’s Bazar’s Marine Drive.
Chief Guest General Wakar-uz-Zaman, President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association and Chief of Army Staff praised the team’s resilience despite numerous challenges.
“They are the pride of our nation. Their multiple SAFF victories have earned global recognition. This celebration will further inspire them toward greater achievements,” he said.
He expressed hope that the women’s team would continue to bring honor to the country with more significant accomplishments.
He also emphasized the Armed Forces’ commitment to supporting football development and mentioned the formation of a women’s football team within the Army, which has already shown notable success.
Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, Navy Chief Admiral Muhammad Nazmul Hasan, Major General Mohammad Asadullah Minhajul Alam of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division in Ramu, and Bangladesh Football Federation President Tabith Awal attended the event.
The Armed Forces presented a total cash prize of Tk1 crore to the SAFF-winning team.
