Shahed Mobarak, a young entrepreneur and environmentally conscious individual has been actively working in Cox’s Bazar’s fisheries sector for years.
He believes that sustainable development in the fisheries industry could significantly improve the local population’s livelihoods while boosting the country’s economy.
Shahed said adopting modern technology and scientific methods should be the first step toward developing Cox’s Bazar’s fisheries sector.
Fish catching and processing rely on outdated methods, which need to be improved to increase production. By incorporating advanced fishing nets, modern fishing techniques, and processing centers, fish production can be significantly enhanced.
He also emphasized the urgent need for sustainable management and conservation of fisheries resources.
“Establishing more fish breeding zones and conserving coastal mangroves could increase marine fish production,” he added.
Shahed also pointed out the importance of training fishery entrepreneurs and enhancing government support.
This would enable them to conduct market research, explore export opportunities, and adopt innovative sales methods.
Moreover, implementing standard certification processes would improve fish quality and facilitate access to local and international markets.
“With eco-friendly practices and the implementation of proper policies, Cox’s Bazar’s fisheries sector can flourish sustainably, positively impacting the local economy and improving the lives of the people here,” he concluded.
