Bangladesh Betar, Cox’s Bazar, on Wednesday organised a discussion meeting and cultural programme titled ‘Bangladesh Betar in Referendum and Election’ to raise public awareness ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election and the 2026 referendum.
The programme was held in the afternoon at Shaheed Daulat Maidan of the Public Library with the aim of encouraging participation of people from all walks of life in the upcoming election and referendum.
Additional Director General (News) of Bangladesh Betar, Muhammad Shariful Qader, attended the event as the chief guest.
Presided over by Mohammad Ashraf Kabir, director of Bangladesh Betar’s Cox’s Bazar regional centre, the discussion was also addressed by Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner Mohammad A Mannan and superintendent of police ANM Sajedur Rahman.
Officials from various government and non-government organisations, representatives of civil society, and local residents were present at the programme.
Following the discussion, a cultural programme featuring music, drama, and other performances by renowned local artistes was held.
Speakers at the meeting said that the July mass uprising had created an opportunity in the nation’s history to establish democracy, justice, and people’s rights. To uphold this spirit, they urged citizens to cast their votes in favour of ‘Yes’ in the referendum.
