Children and adolescents expressed their creativity through colours and words as Satyen Sen Shilpigosthi organised a day-long programme titled ‘Amrita Swarakali’ to mark International Mother Language Day.
The programme began at 10:00 am on 21 February with a tribute to the language martyrs. The organisation’s music department performed the national anthem, Ekushey songs, and recitations, setting a solemn tone for the day.
At 12:30 pm, competitions in recitation, letter writing, drawing, and clay art commenced at Shaheed Daulat Maidan of the Cox’s Bazar Public Library. More than 200 students participated in the contests.
The programme was presided over by the organisation’s President, Md. Khorshed Alam, and conducted by General Secretary Monir Mobarak.
Judges included noted recitation artist and President of Shruti Abritti Angan, Adv. Protibha Das, Professor and cultural activist, Ipsita Chakraborty of Cox’s Bazar City College, artist Mongla Wan, and dance trainer Md. Harunur Rashid and cultural activist Annie Pal. The competitions were coordinated by cultural activist Moumita Bhattacharya.
Overall management support was provided by the Treasurer, Md. Ayat Ullah and members Tama Pal, Rahul Barua, Drishya, Jawad Bashar, Ananta, Anindya Dev Antu, and Md. Junaid of the district unit of Satyen Sen Shilpigosthi.
Prizes were distributed among the winners at 4:30 pm, with poet Asif Noor present as a guest. Additional support was provided by District Khelaghar President Subimal Pal Panna, Vice-Presidents Radhu Barua Chowdhury, Dr. Ranadhir Dev Nath, Manorom Saha Basanta, and Shubha Das.
The cultural segment of the programme was managed by Cultural Secretary Niharika Dhar Ankhi, member Priya Dhar, music instructor Mithila Sen Tuhi of Satyen Sen Cultural Training Institute, and instrumentalist Shantanu Chowdhury.
Through this vibrant event, young participants were inspired by the spirit of Ekushey, honouring the Language Movement’s legacy with creativity and commitment.
