Khelaghar Ashor in Cox’s Bazar held a candlelight vigil to pray for the souls of children killed and for the speedy recovery of those injured in the tragic plane crash at Milestone, Uttara in Dhaka.
The vigil took place on Friday (25 July) evening at the Central Shaheed Minar in Cox’s Bazar.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the deceased, followed by a special prayer for the departed souls and the quick recovery of the injured.
Speakers included Subimal Pal Panna, President of the district Khelaghar Ashor; M. Jasim Uddin, General Secretary; Utpala Barua, member of the central Khelaghar committee; Mohammad Khorshed Alam, President of Satyensen Shilpi Goshthi; Bishwajit Pal Bishu, former National Council member of Khelaghar; and child speaker Upoma Dash.
They expressed deep condolences for the children who lost their lives and solidarity with their grieving families. “Overcoming this grief is difficult, but we must stand by the families of the victims with patience and support,” they said, emphasizing the need for stronger safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
More than a hundred children, child organizers, cultural activists, and parents joined the candlelight vigil, their eyes reflecting the collective sorrow of the community.
