The ‘July Photo Exhibition’ has opened in Cox’s Bazar, offering a rare glimpse into the historic mass uprising that swept the district in July 2024.

Organized by the Cox’s Bazar district administration, the exhibition was inaugurated on Friday (25 July) afternoon at Shaheed Daulat Maidan of the Cox’s Bazar Public Library by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin. Superintendent of Police Saifuddin Shaheen attended as a special guest, among others.

The exhibition showcases rare photographs from the July 2024 uprising in Cox’s Bazar, capturing pivotal moments of protest and resistance. At the center of the exhibition are images of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Shaheed Mir Mugdho, Shaheed Wasim, Shaheed Nurul Amin, Shaheed Ahsan Habib, and Shaheed Tanvir, alongside other powerful snapshots documenting the movement.

Visitors were visibly moved as they viewed the photos, many wiping away tears. “These photos have brought back the days of our struggle,” one visitor shared, holding back emotion.

District administration officials stated that the exhibition aims to present local history and the sacrifices of the martyrs to the new generation. The exhibition is open to the public and will run for three days.

It is worth noting that in July 2024, a massive people’s movement led by students and citizens erupted in Cox’s Bazar, as part of nationwide protests, resulting in the deaths of four young men in police firing. This movement is now remembered as the ‘July Movement’.
