Interim Government Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, visited the ongoing construction site of Cox’s Bazar Airport on Friday to assess its progress.

Senior military and civilian officials accompanied him during the inspection. Aminul Hasib, the Supervising Engineer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), briefed the Chief Adviser on the project’s current status.

Officials informed Dr. Yunus that the international airport will accommodate 40 to 50 flights daily once operational. They also presented a project summary, stating that 95% of the construction is complete, with full completion expected by December this year.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Yunus and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Cox’s Bazar to visit the Rohingya refugee camps. Their chartered flight landed at Cox’s Bazar Airport at 12:48 PM.

As per the schedule, the Chief Adviser and the UN Secretary-General will participate in a mass Iftar gathering with approximately 100,000 Rohingya refugees in Ukhiya. Additionally, Dr. Yunus will visit the Khurushkul Climate Refugee Rehabilitation Center.
