The government has taken initiatives to further modernize and expand the facilities of community clinics, ensuring access to healthcare services for the country’s marginalized populations. Additionally, steps are being taken to increase the availability of medical equipment and personnel in these clinics.
Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Chief of the Community Clinic Health Assistance Trust, shared this information on Friday morning at a seminar organized by the Cox’s Bazar District Administration to strengthen community clinic activities and ensure healthcare at the grassroots level.
The seminar, held at the conference room of the District Administration and presided over by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health. They highlighted that community clinics are playing a crucial role in delivering primary healthcare services to marginalized communities at the grassroots level. Despite various limitations, healthcare workers at community clinics continue to provide services to the people.
The Additional Secretary also mentioned that, alongside infrastructural development, the budget allocation for modernizing community clinics nationwide would be increased.
Among others, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammadul Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner Imran Hossain Sajib, and Cox’s Bazar Press Club President Mahbub, along with relevant stakeholders, were present at the event.
