In a major eviction drive, the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority (CoxDA) has reclaimed 55 decimals of government land illegally occupied in the Kalatali area of the hotel-motel zone in Cox’s Bazar town.
The land, valued at approximately Tk 100 crore, had been encroached upon by makeshift markets and shops for years. On Thursday, a mobile court led a day-long eviction operation to remove the illegal structures and free the land.
The drive was conducted under the leadership of CoxDA Secretary and Executive Magistrate Sanjida Begum. Confirming the operation, CoxDA’s Authorized Officer Mohammad Rishad Un Nabi stated that the land belonged to the authority and had been unlawfully occupied for a long time.
