Cox’s Bazar: Tourists visiting Cox’s Bazar beach are allowed to bathe only in three designated zones—Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points—where lifeguards are on duty around the clock, and surveillance is maintained from watchtowers.
Swimming in Cox’s Bazar is restricted to areas under the supervision of Sea Safe Lifeguards, a program run by CIPRB. These zones are marked with flags and designated signs to ensure safe swimming conditions.
Imtiaz Ahmed, Field Team Manager of Sea Safe Lifeguards, told Cox’s Bazar Life that 27 lifeguards are on duty at Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points.
However, it’s impossible to control thousands of bathers across the coastline. That’s why we mark the designated swimming areas with flags, keeping tourists within safe zones under constant lifeguard supervision.”
Despite these precautions, many tourists and locals venture into other areas, such as Seagull Point and Shaibal Point, where no lifeguard services are available. This increases the risk of drowning and other accidents.
Authorities strongly urge all visitors to swim only within the designated zones where lifeguard services are available for safety.
