Cox’s Bazar Government College has launched the planting of 200 palm seeds on its campus as part of the ‘Tree Plantation Program-2026 ’.
The seeds were planted at different locations across the college campus at around noon on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).
College Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Md Mofizul Haque, Vice-Principal Professor Md Ahidul Islam, and Joint Regional Director of Bangladesh Open University’s Cox’s Bazar Regional Centre SM Atikur Rahman attended the programme.
Assistant Professor Md Jahangir Alam of the college’s History Department, Section Officer Mohammad Shafiqul Rahman Chowdhury of the BOU Cox’s Bazar Regional Centre, and journalist Mohammad Hasan, finance secretary of the Cox’s Bazar District Press Club, were also present.
Rajful Welfare Trust, based in Dhunat, Bogura, donated 200 palm seeds for planting on the college campus.
The organisers said palm trees can help reduce the risk of lightning strikes while also protecting the environment and increasing tree cover on campus.
