The Cox’s Bazar Municipality Girls’ Team emerged victorious in the 2025 National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Under-17), defeating Eidgaon Girls’ Team in a thrilling match on Friday. The intense final ended in a goalless draw during regular time, pushing the game to a penalty shootout. Cox’s Bazar’s goalkeeper, Samia Akter, delivered a stellar performance in the shootout, leading her team to victory.
Samia Akter’s outstanding goalkeeping earned her the Player of the Match title. Eidgaon’s Jinnat won the award for the tournament’s Best Player, while her teammate, Salma Moni, was honored as the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper.
Organizers and stakeholders believe such competitions significantly advance women’s football in Bangladesh, inspiring young talents to shine on the national stage.
